KPMG tech talk: The implications of cyber threats in the information age

18:00, Wednesday 2nd Week – Lecture Theatre A, Department of Computer Science

In collaboration with the Oxford Guild, KPMG are coming to CompSoc to talk about the work they do in the technology sector:

The lecture will be given by Imran Ghani, a Cyber Security Analyst at KPMG. Imran Ghani started his career as an Officer in the Pakistani Army and subsequently worked on United Nations Peacekeeping Operations in Africa. Imran has since been working on high-profile Cyber Security projects for a range of international companies in the corporate and banking sector. His expertise include Cyber Threat assessment, Security Strategy and Governance, Risk Management, and Policy writing and review.

Artifical Intelligence Impact Weekend

Concerned by the question of fake news and how it may be (mis)shaping our world view? Want to learn more about artificial intelligence as a potential force for global good, get some new skills, and win some awesome prizes?

Then you should definitely sign up for this weekend of exciting events for students at the Oxford Foundry, delivered in collaboration with EY, including skills workshops and creative solution building with some awesome prizes to be won! A series of events, starting on 4th May with a happy hour and team formation, running through the weekend of May 5–6, and ending up with a pitch night/prize-giving and party on May 8th.

Open to all students – no previous knowledge of AI or related technologies required.

Micro-internships are back

Want to round off the term with an exclusive work experience opportunity?

Oxford University’s Trinity Micro-Internship Programme (MIP) is now open! MIP facilitates 2–5 day work experience placements in 9th or 10th week each term, exclusive to Oxford students. All matriculated students are eligible to apply for two placements each term.

Although micro-internships are voluntary, host organisations must reimburse local travel and lunch expenses on production of receipts.
