Greetings humans,
Welcome back everyone, for the
last and most
stressful term of the
year. We have an event
packed first half of
the term waiting for
you starting with
three this week.
This Thursday,
we're starting off
with a talk on bug
bounty hunting and
other real world
cybersecurity
opportunities, head on
to LTBR at
5pm for an
exciting talk if you
want to join the world
of cybersecurity, or
if you're just
interested.
Friday has a
familiar Bubble Tea
Social waiting for us,
join us from 5-6pm,
as we chill out with
some bubble tea at
CompSoc's expense,
relax and forget about
the approaching
examinations for a
brief moment.
And this Saturday,
we're gonna have this
term's presentation
night, make sure to
sign up here
if you want to go on
stage —
it can be any topic
you want! Come down at
7pm
to listen to each
other's presentations,
you don't have to give
one to join.
Our
CompSoc continuation
overflow seems to have
caused a crash! Join
us this Saturday
for a
continuation-less
social while we figure
out how to continue.

Fun
computing fact: The
earliest documented
case of spam was a
message advertising a
new model of computers
sent by Gary Thuerk to
393 recipients on ARPANET on May
3, 1978, which is
almost a quarter of
the users connected at
the time! People got
so mad that it took an
entire decade until
others realized the
potential for
advertisement and
another 5 years when
it was named as what
we all know and hate.

Make
sure to join OxWoCS (Oxford
Women in CS), a
society we're working
closely with, if you
identify as a woman
or woman-adjacent
person in CS!
They have a host of
wonderful events on,
including talks,
panels and socials.
Computer Science is
unfortunately a
subject with one of
the biggest gender
gaps in Oxford and
worldwide, and
addressing this is at
the core of OxWoCS.
