President:
- Primary job consists of managing the rest of the society, making sure that each facet of the society is working as intended. As such you need to have good leadership and team skills.
- You'll decide the overall the direction that the society takes.
- During the summer, a bulk of your work will consist of contacting sponsors to get them to re-sponsor the society for another year or to try to onboard new sponsors.
- If there is a Vice-President elected then you can share the workload with them how you and them see fit.
Secretary:
- Primarily deals with the communications that the society gets through email, from member inquiries to sponsors.
- Also deals with memberships and mailing list; making sure people are on the right mailing lists and that members receive the benefits they are promised.
- Creates the weekly newsletter.
- If there is no branding officer or no IT officer then the responsibilities for each is given to the secretary by default (though you can reshuffle the duties within committee so long as it gets
done).
Treasurer:
- Is the person responsible that makes sure that others get the money they require as soon as possible, as well as making sure that the society gets what it is owed, primarily from sponsors.
- Creates budgets for each term to regulate our spending and make sure we don't overspend.
- Creates accounts to make sure money is being used as expected and that we have the amount we expect.

Vice-President:
- Shares responsibilities with the President. How this is arranged is up to those elected but in the past this has often manifested with the Vice-President dealing with the sponsors and the President
with managing the society.
Social Secretary(/ies):
- Primary aim is to plan and organise the socials we hold weekly each term, and as such the bulk of the work is done over vacations as to prepare for having a term card out on time.
- Communicates with department to make sure we have access to the spaces we want to use for our events.
Learn to Code Officers:
- Job is to run the annual Learn-to-Code beginners python workshop that the CompSoc holds every Michaelmas. The slides have already been created and as such all that is needed from someone holding
this role is to update them if needed and otherwise offer an hour of their time each week in MT to teach the content to those attending.
Competitive Programming Officers:
- Plans and runs any Competitive Programming styled events during the year. There is a lot of flexibility in terms of how frequently you'd like to run the events and when you want to run them.
- Ideally you'd have a decent understanding and experience in Competitive Programming already.
Marketing/Branding Manager:
- Handles social media and newsletter output and general communication of our events to members through several channels.
- Creates the society's visuals, in the images we use in social media posts, our term cards or stash!
- You will be given an extensive pack of branding materials to work with, including the font, colour palette, guides and templates
- The perfect role for artists, creative computer fans or PicsArt enjoyers.
IT Officer:
- The role's responsibilities concern the upkeep of our website, servers and general technical equipment (VR headset, drones etc). The website is in WordPress and as such is quite simple to update;
no experience in web development is required.
Head of Talks:
- Primary job is to invite speakers to the CompSoc and arrange a talks timetable for the term.
- As with social secretary this needs to be done before term starts for the termcard and as such a bulk of the work is spent in the vacation sending emails and waiting for correspondence.
Leaders of Gaming:
- Organises our termly gaming socials, sourcing laptops, Wii's, games etc.
