Jobs:

Kandongsee: A start up opportunity
The company will be in the form of a website. It's aimed at Chinese students looking to go abroad and offers a new source of information and a service radically different from the mass of Chinese agents who currently dominate the market. We're seeking in the long term to become the voice on all things related to a Western education and I'm happy to say that I think I have a strong team in place as well as funding that will give us a good shot at that. It's a new idea and an area of the market that no other Westerners have tried to tackle so the potential is high as we would be a completely new entity in the market. We started work in April 2013 and have secured angel investment.

Our website will initially have four key services. We have completed all the content required for launch (~400 000 words) and have made serious inroads in app development (and some work on website development).

1. Experience content explaining what the academics and culture of our initial four countries (USA, UK, AUS, CAN) is like to experience and their key differences so users can understand before they make a decision, or just for info. Both for undergraduate and postgraduate.

2. An app where you answer a few questions about yourself and what you want and it recommends you a country where you are best suited and tells you why

3. Practical content introducing a huge amount of content about practical things students may to need to know about the different countries: application, visa application, bank accounts, SIM cards, transport, costs (the list is long and the info very comprehensive!)4. A blog putting out daily articles about fun/interesting things about culture/student culture/comparisons between the four different countries directed towards a Chinese base.

The entire website is in both Chinese and English.

Software developer jobs for CompSoc members

TPP are a software house working on cutting-edge healthcare IT products. The company is based in Horsforth, just outside of Leeds. We provide a market-leading clinical system for the NHS with over 5,000 healthcare providers and 200,000 users relying on our product on a daily basis. We are also working internationally, in countries such as India and China, in order to deploy our healthcare IT solutions overseas.

TPP is looking for talented graduates and postgraduates to become software developers. We recruit the best and the brightest, and we think that there are people in your society (perhaps it’s you!) who fit the bill. We want people who are adaptable, can learn quickly, and have an aptitude for problem solving. Unlike so many other jobs in the industry, we do not require prior experience. We will teach you everything you need to know on the job. In the 7 years I have worked here I’ve been involved in some fantastic projects such as deploying our system into Airedale Hospital, transferring nearly 1 million patient records from other clinical systems.

Working at TPP has plenty of benefits, including a starting salary of £28k which increases significantly year on year. We also provide a generous training allowance and holiday entitlement, along with loads of other brilliant perks. TPP came second in the prestigious Sunday Times ‘Best Small Companies’ survey this year thanks to excellent employee satisfaction.
