Hello Everyone!
This week we have something a little different arranged. We'll be hosting a lightning talks session, where you can come up on stage and talk about anything you think may interest the audience! (Don't worry, you don't have to give a talk to attend, besides we wouldn't have enough time!).
All details below!
Lightning Talks
http://ox.compsoc.net/events/2014/hilary/lightning_talks/ Date: Wednesday Week 2 - 29 January 2014 Time: 07:00 PM Facebook Event https://facebook.com/events/811196865572848/Place: Lecture Theatre A - Dept. of Computer Science http://ox.compsoc.net/events/venue/compsci_lta/Tags: Lightning Talks http://ox.compsoc.net/events/tags/lightning_talks/ Committee Speaker http://ox.compsoc.net/events/tags/committee_speaker/
/Note: you do *not* need to give a talk to come to this event, the larger the audience / number of questioners the better!/
Have you got an interesting talk or idea you would like to share with a technically-minded / geeky audience? Well let's see if you can get your message across in under 10 minutes! (We'll also give some time afterwards for questions)
We'll be using Lecture Theatre A, and so projectors will be available.
Surprise contributions are welcome, but we would appreciate it if you can let us know beforehand if you are doing a talk and what it will be on.
And of course, there will be pizza and drinks!

About Learn to Code
During these events, there will be a mixture of interactive workshops and talks. We will be teaching you the basics of programming using Python http://www.python.org/. These events are good if you have zero coding experience, but they are also valuable if you already have started coding and would like to better your skills. We also welcome people who already have good coding experience as the more volunteers the better!
These events are always followed by our weekly Geek Night http://ox.compsoc.net/events/tags/geek_night/.
You can find out more information about this series of events over at ox.compsoc.net/learn http://ox.compsoc.net/learn/
We also have a facebook group for discussion if you are taking part in this course: fb.com/groups/OXLearnToCode https://www.facebook.com/groups/OXLearnToCode/
...and a group for those who would like to volunteer: fb.com/groups/OXLearnToCodeHelpers https://www.facebook.com/groups/OXLearnToCodeHelpers/
