Oxford Union debate - "This House Believes Technology Companies
Should Prevent Government Access to Consumers' Data."
This Thursday, the Oxford Union will be holding a debate on the motion
“This House Believes Technology Companies Should Prevent Government
Access to Consumers' Data.” The motion is a very topical one given the
recent case between Apple and the FBI as well as the Investigatory
Powers Bill in Parliament. The speaker lineup is superb. It includes
Matthew Olsen, the former Director of the US National Counterterrorism
Center, and Denelle Dixon-Thayer, the Chief Legal and Business Officer
of Mozilla. It is with great pleasure that I invite all of you, whether
a Union member or not, to come hear the debate at 8:30pm. For more
information, please find the Facebook event at
https://www.facebook.com/events/871503672995978/. If you are a Union
member, simply show your card at the door of the chamber. If you are not
a Union member, please email michael.li(a)oxford-union.org to put your
name on the list. Then if you identify yourself to the security guard on
the door of the chamber and pay a small fee (£10), you will be welcomed
inside. I hope to see many of you there; reach out if you have any
questions.

game pits players against each other building and refining programs to
battle over control of a virtual computer.
No experience needed, but familiarising yourself with the basics
beforehand may be useful. A good beginners guide can be found here
