We've got another Learn To Code session this Saturday, this time with an opportunity to arrive 30 minutes early to bring you up to speed if you happened to miss previous sessions. We also have our weekly social in collaboration with OUEngSoc, as well as a competitive programming lockout contest on Monday!!

[Events] Learn To Code [https://b6d43c23c6.imgdist.com/public/users/Integrators/BeeProAgency/975166_...]
We will be having our third session of the Learn to Code series, aimed at complete beginners! Our amazing coding officer will guide you through learning Python, from the absolute basics to making your very own game by the end of the course. If you've ever wanted to pick up coding, but felt it was hard, frustrating, or just didn't know where to start, this is the perfect event series for you. Non-members and members alike are free to come along!
To help you understand more what we have learnt, we decided to start the session early. From 5pm to 5:30pm, we will do some exercises together on the materials covered in the first two sessions. Then the actual session starts from 5:30pm as usual, where I would cover new content. People who have attended both previous sessions can join in at 5:30pm while people who missed any sessions are strongly encouraged to come earlier at 5pm.

Greetings from Jane Street!https://www.janestreet.com/
This January, Jane Street is excited to host two in- house programmes, WISEhttps://www.janestreet.com/join-jane-street/programs-and-events/wise/ and FOCUShttps://www.janestreet.com/join-jane-street/programs-and-events/focus/. Details about each programme can be found below. The application deadline is Sunday, 19th November 2023.
WISEhttps://www.janestreet.com/wise-ldn-email (7th - 10th January 2024 in London) is for first-year undergraduate students who identify as women, transgender, and gender-expansive to spend two days in our London office learning more about who we are, what we do, and how we do it. You will learn about how we use maths, computer science and probability concepts in trading, as well as insight into the different roles that exist within the firm. Jane Street will provide all travel and housing accommodation. Deadline to apply is Sunday, 19th November 2023.
FOCUS:https://www.janestreet.com/focus-ldn-email (10th- 13th January 2024 in London) is crafted for undergraduate students, who self-identify with an underrepresented ethnic or racial minority group. No prior finance experience is required, only an interest in seeing what a career at Jane Street might look like! Over the course of two days, you will participate in classes, discussions, and activities that are structured to provide a broad overview of the work our trading, software development, and strategy and product teams do. Jane Street will provide all travel and housing accommodation. Deadline to apply is Sunday, 19th November 2023.
If you aren’t a fit for WISE or FOCUS, we are running many other other programs and events that you may be better suited for. Check out this pagehttps://www.janestreet.com/join-jane-street/programs-and-events to find out more and to apply.
Check Out OxWoCS!
Make sure to join OxWoCS (Oxford Women in CS), a society we're working closely with, if you identify as a woman or woman-adjacent person in CS! They have a host of wonderful events on, including talks, panels and socials. Computer Science is unfortunately a subject with one of the biggest gender gaps in Oxford and worldwide, and addressing this is at the core of OxWoCS.
