OUSU have been contacted by a new charity looking for a volunteer:
SPECIALEFFECT - VOLUNTEERS FOR NEW CHARITY
SpecialEffect - www.specialeffect.org.uk - is an organisation
specifically set up to enable young people with disabilities to play
computer games and express themselves creatively through music and art
Despite being a new charity we have a very solid foundation, with an
excellent group of Trustees and an excellent Patron - Matt Hampson, an
ex-England and Leicester Tigers rugby player who broke his neck in
training about two years ago. He is now living at home and eager to do
what he can to help.
We are looking for a student volunteer to help with admin (who might,
over time, become a 'key' volunteer who would co-ordinate help from
others) to do the following...
1. Using templates and text provided, help me to put together and send
bids for project funding and help respond to any enquiries that follow.
2. Help me to plan the 'official launch' of the charity to be held at
Leicester Tigers Rugby Club in January - this will involve liaising with
the Tigers and the Press in organising the practicalities of the launch.
There will be other work that following on from the above, including
website maintenance, but these are the key areas at the moment.
They could do the work from home as long as they have a phone & internet
access.
