Greetings, and welcome to First Week.
I hope you're all settling down into the start of many weeks of work,
but there's no need to fret - CompSoc is here with events galore to
distract you from those troublesome pages of knowledge.
This week, we have the Pubmeet on Thursday (11th Oct), where we all meet
up in the Lamb and Flag [1] for a nice relaxed meet, talk, and drink (if
you're so inclined). Turn up at any time from 8pm onwards; we'll be
there for a large majority of the night, and it's a good chance to come
along, meet people with similar interests, and ask the committee awkward
questions.
Next week is a tour of OUCS, which is always fun; I'll be emailing you
all with information about that next week. Remember, all events are free
in the first four weeks, and we have a 2-week special cheap membership
offer on; you might have picked up a membership form up at the Fair, but
if not, don't worry - we'll have some at the events, and you can hand
your form and payment to us directly then as well if you like.
If you want to unsubscribe from this fresher's fair mailing list, just
visit [2], and put your email address in the box at the bottom of the page.
One last item that might be of interest to some of you; the Oxford
Student are looking for people to help with their website redesign,
which will be using Django [3]. If you'd like to help out, email
griffith.rees(a)hertford.ox.ac.uk.
Well, that's it for now. Hopefully we'll see many of you on Thursday!
Andrew
