Trinity Termcard, STEM Social, Game Night and More!
Greetings, fellow CompSoc-ers,
Welcome back, one and all! After a relaxing vacation, it's time to get stuck into some exciting events in Trinity Term.
We have plenty of things in store for your delectation, kicking off with a STEM Social this Wednesday at All Bar One, in which we'll be joined by Oxford University Physics Society and Oxford University Engineering Society.
If late night pizza and procrastination are more your style, join us for our Traditional™ pizza and board game night on Saturday. Snacks guaranteed!
We also bring some opportunities from beyond CompSoc, including hackathons and more!
- Declan, CompSoc Secretary
Fun Computing Fact: Linux and other Unix-like operating systems feature a rather amusing error message: 'lp0 on fire'. While this message, claiming that the user's printer is on fire, may at first seem to be purely a joke, it's actually a legacy error dating back to the early ages of printing, when cathode ray tubes were used as the lasers in laser printers, and a paper jam could cause a fire!
Still not a member? How?! Membership only costs £1 for LIFE, with tons of benefits - discounts on merch and tickets, free food at all socials, our exclusive Discord server and more - so it's definitely worth signing up!

Check Out OxWoCS!
Make sure to join OxWoCS (Oxford Women in CS), a society we're working closely with, if you identify as a woman or woman-adjacent person in CS! They have a host of wonderful events on, including talks, panels and socials. Computer Science is unfortunately a subject with one of the biggest gender gaps in Oxford and worldwide, and addressing this is at the core of OxWoCS.
