*1. **Sofmor - Social Learning Platform - is searching for a back end
developer*
Sofmor is an exciting and innovative Social Learning Network (think
Moodle meets Facebook) co-founded by a final year UCL Computer Science
student and we're looking for a Back-End Web Developer/CTO to join our
two man team as a co-founder. In return we're offering a negotiable
equity/salary split.
We'll hit the ground running and begin building the prototype as soon as
you join. We're tech agnostic but would prefer someone with PHP, Python
or Ruby experience -- current students are welcome to apply. You don't
necessarily have to have a lot of professional experience but should
possess drive, tenacity and willingness to learn. We've already gathered
interest from students and educators who'd love to test our initial
product and have been approached by investors -- but we'd rather show
off a working prototype to them first. If you're interested you can find
out more about us, this role and even apply via

*2. **Education Partnerships Africa - Looking for IT Workstreams Lead*
*IT Workstream Lead for Education Partnerships Africa*
EPA is a virtual and growing organisation and is increasingly reliant on
its IT systems to function. The integrity, availability and security of
our information and documents is vital to the viability of our work and
the quality of the systems that we use has a direct impact on the
efficiency of our operations. Technological developments in
collaborative and interactive software, and the increasing availability
of the internet in East Africa has opened up a variety of opportunities
for EPA that we are yet to exploit. The Kenya Government has made a
huge quantity of data about schools available on line -- how do we tap
into this? Collaborative authoring of documentation and 'corporate'
social media -- how/should EPA use/implement/afford/host/support these
tools to improve the way we work?
Although you will have the ability to shape the nature of your role,
these are some examples of tasks for which we require assistance.
* Research website hosting options and guide the purchase of a new
package which meets our internal technology requirements
* Support the Knowledge Management Workstream Lead in researching and
implementing a permanent management system
* Support Knowledge Management Workstream Lead in designing and
populating a remote database (accessible from Kenya)
* Redesign the website to be more interactive and synchronised with
our internal management system
* Mailing list management
* Provide website support to the Communications Workstream Lead
* Investigate IT solutions for our summer work in Kenya
* Organise IT training to the central charity and new Project Worker
intake
In addition to being a Workstream Lead, there is also the opportunity to
apply join the IT Workstream in a more general capacity. This may be
appropriate if you are broadly interested our IT work but do not have
the experience required to undertake the Lead role or you cannot make a
consistent year-long commitment. Within the application you will find
the option to express an interest in joining the Workstream, and space
to indicate what you might be interested in doing and/or restrictions on
you time.
Normally Central Charity positions are only open to those who have
previously volunteered with EPA. However we have often suffered from a
shortage in IT skills and therefore have opened up the position to
external interest. Subsequently this is a fantastic and unique
opportunity to directly enter the heart of a growing and dynamic
education charity. Therefore you will be able to also develop additional
skills in people management, working as part of a team, internal charity
strategy, access to our internal jobs board and even on the ground
development experience in East Africa!
