Hey everyone,
It looks like we’ve escaped exams for now, which means it’s time for our
most important event, our Termly General Meeting (TGM). Crucially, we’ll
be re-running elections for spots on next year’s committee, so be sure
to consider which role might suit you! More details below about what
each member of the committee contributes to the society. Any member of
CompSoc, including freshers, is welcome (and encouraged!) to run for a
position on the committee. See the attached agenda for other motions
we’ll be discussing in the TGM.
If you aren’t already on the CompSoc Discord, you can *join it here
<https://discord.gg/RhvsMSn>* to take part in social events and keep in
touch with other members.

Trinity 2021 TGM <https://www.facebook.com/events/398401054920533/>
*18:00, Saturday, Discord*
Come and hear what’s been going on behind the scenes at the society, and
make your voice heard! The agenda for the meeting is attached.
We’ll be electing our new committee at this TGM. The positions available
currently are:
* *President* - Runs the society and is in charge of the committee, as
well as obtaining/renewing sponsorships.
* *Vice President* - Largely similar responsibilities to the
President, helps the President run the society and communicate with
sponsors.
* *Secretary* - Writes the newsletters and manages CompSoc’s website
and server, as well as signing up new members and writing the
agendas/minutes for meetings.
* *Social Secretary* - A relatively new role, in charge of organising
events and managing our social media.
* *Treasurer* - In charge of CompSoc’s bank account and payments made
to/from the society.
Of course, the duties of each role grow and change over time, so you’re
welcome to arrange the details with your fellow committee members. If
you’re interested in running for a role, or just want to vote on who you
want in the new committee, be sure to show up and help us move our
society forward!

Hey everyone,
You’re probably sick of hearing the same thing from me by now, but we’re
having another chill evening with no set theme this Saturday amidst the
exam season. After the exams are over we’ll also be re-running the
elections for our committee members. We can’t be your committee forever,
so we encourage you to consider running for a role! We’ve also got a
message from TPP Careers this week. See you soon, and good luck in your
exams!

Hey everyone,
As you all know by now we’ve all got exams and/or revision filling up
our lives. We’ll be having another chill social this Saturday, but will
it be MORE or LESS chill than the last two chill socials? Only you can
decide. After the exams are over we’ll be re-running the elections for
our committee members. Not that we don’t enjoy being your committee, but
we can’t do it forever! We’ve also got a message from TPP Careers this
week. Avid readers may notice that we’ve now broken what might be the
longest streak of non-sponsored messages in my time on the committee.
Exciting!

Hey everyone,
Our social this Saturday will again just be a relaxing social evening in
light of the fact that most of us are facing exams soon. Don’t forget
that after the exams are over we’ll be re-running the elections for our
committee members. It’s a great opportunity that’s well worth
considering if you want to bulk out your CV! No sponsor messages this
week either, so that’s all from us.

Hey everyone,
This week has been busy for our committee so apologies for the
newsletter being later than usual. Our social this Saturday has no set
theme, just a chill social evening ahead of the exams most of us are
facing soon. Also attached to this newsletter are the minutes from our
AGM last term, which it came to my attention that I forgot to send out
after the meeting. No sponsor messages this week, so that’s all from us!

Hey everyone,
Our next social event this Saturday is Movie Night! Head on down to
Discord on Saturday night and we’ll all vote on a movie to watch, over
pizza of course. We had some suitably wacky bots fighting to overwrite
each other in Core War last week, and I think it’s fair to say that the
dwarf meta reigned supreme this time around. We’ve actually don’t have
any sponsor messages this week which is a rarity. See you all next week!

Hey everyone,
Would you like to get some practical experience of Software Development
for your CV? Or are you looking to get a job or an internship in the
future? Then see below for an opportunity to learn and develop your skills!
An important part of applying for many tech jobs is previous experience,
whether in internships or on personal projects. To help people with less
practical experience, we are implementing a mentoring scheme, where
mentors can provide advice, and help to build a portfolio of projects,
to aid future job applications!
We have limited spaces and an application deadline of 12pm on Sunday
28th March, so make sure to apply soon!
If you are interested in applying for the scheme, please fill in this
application form - https://forms.gle/ggoKj2chXh6QsYCV7
