Hi everyone!
It’s time for the social event of the year: the *CompSoc Annual General
Meeting*. On Wednesday we’ll be voting on three exciting motions, and
electing the 2020-21 committee. You can see the attached agenda for the
full rundown.
If you’d like to run for a committee position (and why wouldn’t you?) then
all you need to do is announce your intention on Wednesday, and be prepared
to answer some tough questions such as: “how many Meateor pizzas will you
order?” and “does P=NP?”.
On Saturday we have our termly LAN party! New this term is the addition of
CompSoc's very own VR kit, so come on down if you'd like to check that out!
For those of you attending *Learn to Code*, please remember that the last
session is *Tuesday* at 7pm, not Thursday!
If you’re looking for something to do over the summer, the Careers Service
have information on their Summer Internship Programme, which you can read
about below.

Jane Street - Women in Trading and Technology
We are excited to host our sixth year of WiTT at Jane Street! Will you be
there?
For: Women in their second year of study in Autumn 2020
Dates: 20th - 23rd September 2020
Women in Trading and Technology (WiTT) is a three-day programme designed
for women in their penultimate year of university as of autumn 2020.
Participants will have an exclusive opportunity to explore careers within
our firm and attend one of two educational programmes: quantitative trading
and software engineering.
Both programmes feature interactive classes and activities during the day,
and evening social events to speak with Jane Street employees and other
women attending the event in a more casual setting.
The quantitative trading programme focuses on mathematical and financial
topics—such as probability, market structure, and arbitrage—through a
combination of short classroom lectures, group games, and mock trading
sessions. There is a curriculum of core subjects with flexibility to
explore alternative areas of interest, and plenty of opportunities for
close interaction with our traders.
The software engineering programme focuses on the fundamentals of building
electronic trading systems, OCaml, and the library and tools we use in our
everyday work at Jane Street. Participants will put these tools to use by
writing the back end and UI for a computer game, along with a program that
trades on a simulated stock exchange. These activities involve a
combination of classroom lectures, group games and exercises, and
one-on-one mentorship.
Selected students will arrive in London on the evening of Sunday, 20
September and will depart the evening of Wednesday, 23 September. Jane
Street will provide all travel to and from London, accommodation at a hotel
near the office, and of course, plenty of food and drinks throughout the
event.
Jane Street is a quantitative trading firm that uses innovative technology,
a scientific approach, and a deep understanding of markets to guide our
business. Founded in 2000, Jane Street employs more than 1,100 people with
offices in New York, London, Amsterdam, and Hong Kong. We are always on the
lookout for great new people to join our team.
The environment at Jane Street is open, informal, intellectual, and fun.
The dress code is casual, the kitchen is stocked, and discussions are
always lively. Teaching and learning are central activities through
classes, mentoring, and discussion.
Selected students will arrive in London on the evening of Sunday, 20
September and will depart the evening of Wednesday, 23 September. Jane
Street will provide all travel to and from London, accommodation at a hotel

Hi CompSoc!
Tragedy strikes this week, as Silver sponsor *StarLeaf* are unable to join

up concurrently. If Smash isn’t your thing, rumour has it that CompSoc has
recently upgraded its VR capabilities…

which is why our vision is changing the way we work, live, play and learn.
Ensoft are an engineering team within Cisco that works with global service
providers, developing software that connects the world. The internet
depends evert day on the code we write. It’s challenging work that matters.
It’s also fun: excelling at work writing complex software is what we enjoy.
We’ve grown by taking a few of the best graduates each year (mostly from
Oxford and Cambridge ) who have then built careers with us by learning from
our world class development organization. It’s an ideal environment for
bright, creative people with an interest in software. Computer science
knowledge and coding experience are obviously very valuable, and give a
head start on this path. They aren’t essential though, as long as you can
show us that you are enthusiastic about a career in software, and have the
right aptitude. The working environment is outstanding, social life is very
active, and the benefits are top notch! All engineering employees share in
