Hi CompSoc!
Good news everyone! Stash has arrived! You can come down to any of our
events from now until the end of term to pick yours up. CompSocks are
coming from a different supplier, so we haven’t got those yet, but
everything else is ready.
Your first chance to pick it up will be at tonight’s Geek Night! It’s going
to be a fairly relaxed one, but we’ll have some computer scientists and
mathematicians on hand to discuss option choices for those moving up a year.
Our TGM is happening this Wednesday. If you’d like to submit a motion then
just get in touch with a member of the committee and we can help you out.
You do need to be a member to attend, but you can purchase lifetime
membership for just £5 on the night. A tentative agenda is attached, but
new motions can be submitted until Tuesday so this may be updated before
the meeting.
If you missed our talk with Artem Kaznatcheev on Algorithmic Biology a few
weeks back, he has since written a brief overview of the talk here
<https://egtheory.wordpress.com/2019/06/01/algorithmic-biology/>. He also
provided us with his slides from the talk, which are attached.
If you're interested in joining the committee for this year's OxfordHack,
then the deadline for applications is tomorrow!

Have a great week,

CTF Society event on Saturday
To anyone with an interest in cybersecurity or ethical hacking, the
Competitive Computer Security Society are launching our end-of-term
“capture-the-flag” (CTF) on Saturday at the Oxford Foundry. CTFs are events
where you solve puzzles and basically hack your way around challenges to
discover flags and earn points. A hands on, practical session that will
work for the curious, the seasoned, the undecided and the
very-much-decided, we’re running from 10am - 3pm with lunch provided.
