GROWING BIOTECH COMPANY SEEKS NUMERICAL ANALYST The Company Cambridge Temperature Concepts Ltd is one of the fastest-growing start-ups in Cambridge, and is developing DuoFertility www.duofertility.com, a revolutionary new fertility monitor (and associated PC software) for women. They have been featured in newspapers such as the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail as ‘one to watch’, and their product is due to launch at the end of this year. The Position The job would entail automatic processing of the data from thousands of the devices in the field, through the company’s web‐based interface. R would be used for the back‐end along with SQL, and the presentation would likely be done in PHP. CTC is looking to recruit someone on an initial one-month contract, but there is very strong potential for long-term work. Personal Attributes The candidate must have a solid background in statistics and programming: they must have strong skills in R, moderate skills in web based languages and database languages such as PHP and SQL. Previous experience of statistical analysis of large amounts of data would be ideal. Candidates must be self-motivated, with high technical competence and good technical communication skills. ************************ Graphic Designer Wanted ************************ The Oxford Wanderer is a new, student run magazine that has been set up to publish your travel experiences. We publish entertaining and informative contributions that have a new or unfamiliar take on a place that you've visited. The magazine is currently looking for someone with graphic design experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be working alongside the current Layout Editor and would be responsible for creating some independent design features as well as digitising others' concepts. It is expected that the successful candidate would have some Photoshop or equivalent experience. If you would like to make a smaller contribution we'd also love to hear from you. Here at Collabora Ltd.[0] we're looking for students to work on Telepathy[1] and Empathy[2] (an instant messaging framework and a client implemented on top of it, respectively), to help us bring it them to feature parity with other IM clients (think file transfer) and work on some of the ideas we don't have enough hands to implement (such as: an IM daemon you can run on a server and reattach to from whatever computer you find yourself at, like an IRC proxy but for all your IM protocols; running a Quake server for a few of your IM contacts without having to faff around with port forwarding and distributing IP addresses; portability to Windows and OS X; etc.). Web Developer needed for a Climate Policy Research Group

WEB DEVELOPER needed for a Climate Policy Research Group You would be creating a medium-profile site, with an estimated one hundred analysts signing up and filling out forms in the first couple of weeks. We intend to run a blog which will be updated on a near-daily basis. By the end of the year we hope to be attracting media attention and traffic, so there would be plenty of opportunity as a developer to get your name out and be associated with an up-and-coming national research organisation; last year our reports were being handed out at the G8 Summit. The position would however be unpaid. If you are interested it would be great to hear from you. Hello all, The Magdalen College Contemporary Orchestra is looking for someone to deal with the technical side of a new website for them. Details below - if you're interested, reply to this message. --David Marius sends this: I’m the manager of the MCO this year, along with Danny Saleeb, who graduated this past summer, and is now directing operations from London. We were wondering if (currently in principle, mainly) anyone would be prepared to help us set up a website for the orchestra that we could use to publicise our concerts, stream media, administer ticket sales and the like. Web developer needed for design company website

Charlie Whinney Associates are looking for someone to help build a website for a design company specialising in large-scale sculptures and arty furniture. In its previous incarnation the site received a lot of press attention, and we will expect it to this time round as well – so it should form a nice addition to your CV. A brief spec is at <http://www.ox.compsoc.net/static/cwa-spec.html>. <http://www.ox.compsoc.net/static/cwa-sketch.ai> is a sketch of the front page in Adobe Illustrator format; please click on different layers to see how different pages might work. Do be aware that this isn't final graphics, but done to provide an idea of how it will look. The clever feature we want to include is a weather feed, so that what is on the site reflects the real-life weather / time of day. We have done some research into this and believe we can use the Yahoo weather feed and create around 40 graphics to represent each of them. This will be a background, and attached to the background will also be some different products, which will change with different weather types; for example, the lampshades will be showing when it is dark, the fruit bowls will be showing at lunchtime, etc. If this isn't clear, or indeed specific enough, we can talk about it and pin it down. We have a relatively small budget for this project; because time is of the essence, we could pay more for it to be completed within, say, one month (obviously if the delay is in us providing the graphics we would take this into account).
