Graduate Analyst Developers - 2007 As part of Mintel's commitment to develop our business, we are looking for eight bright graduates to join the Development Team in 2007 after graduation. Working within the development team under the direction of the Development Team Leader,you will be involved in all stages of the development lifecycle, from system analysis through to build and test. The systems include cutting edge Web based applications, end to end data management systems, document publishing and sales support systems. Technologies used within the team include C++, Visual Basic, XML, XSLT, PHP, Unix (FreeBSD, Linux), Apache, MySQL, C, Perl, Python, and other Open Source software. In addition this role will provide the opportunity to develop Object Oriented Design, Systems Analysis and Database Design skills. You will be expecting to graduate with a 2.1 or First, having already achieved first class A level results. You will have gained substantial development experience either through a previous internship or through in- depth project work and will have proven programming skills. An understanding of Databases and SQL would be an advantage. Human skills are very important at Mintel and you should enjoy working in a team environment, cope well with pressure, and have a genuine enthusiasm for IT, together with a "Can do" attitude. You will need to manage and prioritise a varied workload and enjoy a customer-focused development role in a constantly changing environment. Roles are all London based, but will have the opportunity to work from our offices in Sydney or Chicago. Based in Oxford, at the Clarendon Enterprise Centre, Oxford Risk is a spin- off company of Oxford University. Founded by three prominent Oxford academics, the company is a specialist risk management consultancy. Our expertise lies in the psychology of risk relative to decision-making. The company is highly entrepreneurial and currently developing a portfolio of products and related services for public and private sector organisations, including the Oxford Risk Rating, that have elements delivered through SQL enabled web applications. The beta versions have been developed in .net. We wish to hire a talented web applications developer on a part time/short term contract to increase the rate and creativity of our efforts. If the ‘fit’ is right it could be a springboard to not only permanent employment but an influential and highly valued position within the company. We seek an individual, preferably with relevant technical/work experience, who has good working knowledge of .net, SQL and the alternative strategies for delivering secure and robust sophisticated online assessments. A deep understanding of web-based platform design and delivery would be particularly advantageous. The ideal candidate should also be able to contribute to the design of ‘production quality’ IT and support infrastructure. This engagement will allow the candidate to both contribute to the growth of an exiting venture and to gain first-hand knowledge from experienced and successful entrepreneurs.
